Can You Boil FoodSaver Bags?
As long as you are using official FooodSaver bags they are freezer, microwave and simmer safe. You can leave them in a pot of simmering water, you should turn down the temperature once the water starts to boil, and you don’t want to leave it in a rolling boil of water.
- 4 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons mirin
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons Chinese 5 spice blend
- ¼ teaspoon mustard powder
- 4 salmon fillets or steaks, about ¼ pound each
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh cilantro
- Combine soy sauce, mirin, garlic, and 5 spice blend in small bowl.
- Transfer marinade to half sealed bag with salmon fillets. Close and vacuum seal bag, and leave in refrigerator for up to 2 hours.
- Preheat grill or oven broiler on low.
- Using cooking oil or
non stickspray and paper towel, lubricate the top of grill rack or broiler rack.
- Drain the salmon fillets and place skin side down on
cookingrack and cook for 10 minutes.
- While salmon is cooking use put reserved liquid in small
sauce panheat on medium heat. cook until saucestarts to thicken.
- When sauce has thickened baste the top of salmon fillets and cook for additional 5 minutes. Discard remaining sauce.
- Remove from grill and place on serving platter. Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro.
